School Policies

Programmes

Hauraki’s teaching programmes cover all aspects of the New Zealand curriculum and, while the school is academically focused, there is also a strong emphasis on providing quality sporting and cultural activities as well so that a balanced education is provided.

Most time is spent on the teaching of English and Mathematics but Science, Social Studies, Technology, Music, Dance, Drama, Art, Health and Physical Education are also important.

There are a number of opportunities to participate in cultural activities such as Choirs, Orchestra, Kapahaka (Maori Cultural Group) and school musical shows.

Representative sporting teams also feature including netball, hockey, basketball, rugby, soccer and cricket and there are whole school sports days for swimming, cross country and athletics.

Additional opportunities for Year 6 students include learning to sail at a local beach and an annual camp at a nearby, typically New Zealand bush setting.
